My Week Through Instagram: Week Twenty-Seven & Twenty-Eight

Here is post two today: this time I'm recapping weeks twenty-seven and twenty-eight of my Instagram photos. I am so excited to be more than half-way through this project of a photo a day. And I haven't missed a day yet so I'm proud of my progress. Are you doing any kind of daily photography project? How is it going so far?

Sunday: These pink blooms are prospering this summer. The trees are all around my neighborhood and a few are in our backyard. It's like springtime in summer.

Monday: A morning cup of chai tea. Yum.

Tuesday: I go through cycles of what I enjoy for breakfast. Right now I'm loving vanilla greek yogurt and granola. The cute Anthro bowls make it even more enjoyable.

Wednesday: I shared this DIY project on the blog, a how-to for making your own gold air plant terrarium.  It is super simple and air plants are the easiest things to care for.

Thursday: We watched fireworks from our house this year. One show we could see from our front yard, another show from our deck in the back. I liked this shot of a single firework with the street lamps.

Friday: Spent the evening catching up with an old friend that I haven't seen in years. This included live music at a local outdoor music festival. It was my kind of evening.

Saturday: Someone has a sweet, old yellow Volkswagen in my town. Lucky!

And now for week twenty-eight:

Sunday: My teacup when it's all gone.

Monday: I love our local library. Actually I'm quite partial to all libraries. They are so special to me. And I love the smell of old books. Is that weird?

Tuesday: I picked up the classic Walden at the library. I have never read it. So far the pages are enlightening and quite the inspiration for a simple and natural life.

Wednesday: My Mom found this set of notebooks with this cute leaf graphic and she let me have one. I will always take a fresh, new notebook. I am a bit of a notebook hoarder actually. I have a handful in my desk that have yet to be used. A crisp, new notebook holds such possibilities don't you think? It's kind of magical. It is just waiting for you to fill it up with treasures.

Thursday: Brother came home for a few days. Whenever he is here the house is filled with music: he sings, plays guitar, standup base and piano. It is beautiful and comforting. I like having him home even if it is just for a bit.

Friday: Washi tape! This is just a small part of my ever-growing collection. My friend Nic just recently discovered how fabulous it is and now he knows how addicting it can be. Do we need to form a washi support group?

Saturday: I visited Unique LA's summer show yesterday in Santa Monica (fantastic show as usual!) and then got an early dinner with David (brother) in Silverlake. He is looking for an apartment out there currently. We stopped in at Food+Lab on Sunset. Perfect restaurant, my kind of place. Simple design with some industrial details, welcoming vibe and delicious food. Be sure to visit if you're in the area.

So that concludes my month-long recap for today and now I'm all caught up.

My Week Through Instagram: Week Twenty-Five & Twenty-Six

This Sunday I have a lot of recapping to do so bare with me! This year I challenged myself to post a picture a day on Instagram, a personal project to document my life and the things that inspire me on a daily basis. If you follow along here you've probably already seen my weekly recap posts. This summer has not been the most productive in terms of blogging (I'm sorry to say...life is keeping me busy) and I haven't shared a recap post here on the blog in four weeks. That's an entire month! Today I am going to get back on track and share my Instagram photos from the last month, weeks twenty-five to twenty-eight.

I'll start if off with week twenty-five:

Sunday: Cute red & white checkered packaging on my sandwich.

Monday: Summer started to finally heat up and we had our fans on full-bore.

Tuesday: This marked the first day of our road trip. We vacationed in Denver for a few days, stopping in St. George, Utah and Grand Junction, Colorado along the way. We pulled over in Vegas for a quick break and I snapped this shot of the sunset and skyline.

Wednesday: Somewhere in Utah on day two of our road trip. The rock formations in Utah were gorgeous. It was such a site to see and definitely something different from the scenery in Southern California.

Thursday: Who knew I was to find my dream home in Grand Junction, Colorado? We took an evening stroll through this historic downtown neighborhood and it was full of charm. Not only is this house mint in color but it has that lovely scalloped woodworking detail.

Friday: Spent the late morning and lunchtime meandering through Washington Park. This is a great neighborhood in Denver with a lot of historic homes and shady overgrown trees. It reminded me of some of our old streets at home. There were quite a few geese and ducks sleeping in the shade and getting cool in the lakes. The temperatures were pretty high.

Saturday: Took a quick jaunt to Boulder, CO to see an art market put on by my friend Nic. Found this inspiring tile floor while waiting for lunch.

And now for a roundup of week twenty-six:

Sunday: A favorite stop along the road was Frisco, Colorado. It was small but it had a charming downtown that ended in a scenic marina and lake. It clearly was a destination for vacationers looking to escape the Denver heat. We stopped there on the way to Denver but then returned on the way back because we enjoyed it so much.

Monday: Another capture of the impressive rocks in Utah. It was incredibly windy at this rest stop.

Tuesday: We made it home on Tuesday but these violet flowers were a sweet surprise I found while in Frisco.

Wednesday: In the evening I visited a local wine bar with a friend I haven't seen in awhile. Nothing beats sharing a glass of red with good friends.

Thursday: I picked up some strawberries at the grocery to try out a strawberry margarita recipe. They were perfect and sweet, just like they should be.

Friday: My family clearly couldn't get enough strawberries so we opted for the three-carton bundle to get us through the weekend.

Saturday: Revisiting pictures from Denver. This one was taken along the river at the new park there. Those colors in that sunset are something.

My Week Through Instagram: Week Twenty-Four

Hi friends! Boy has this Monday been crazy. Tomorrow my Mom and I (and Scout!) are leaving for vacation. We are driving out to Colorado to see my brother's band play on the last leg of their summer tour and to just take in Colorado. We've never been but have heard such great things so we're both really excited. In traditional fashion, things are proving hectic up until our departure. I've had work and been trying to finish up little deadlines before we take off. I have yet to pack anything or get Scout ready for her first road trip. And in the middle of the night last night, I was awoken to the sound of dripping water. Yes, apparently our refrigerator decided to leak and it was basically raining in my closet last night. I had to pull everything out and do some late night organizing. So my sleep was very much interrupted (something I loathe) so I am pretty exhausted too. The 90 degree weather is not helping either. I'm so not ready for summer.

Ok...end rant. Enough complaining. Tomorrow I'm going on a much needed vacation to a lovely part of the country I've never been to before. Fun adventures are sure to be had. And I get to see my talented brother and an old friend from college so that makes it all the more sweet. The crazy will soon be behind me. But before all that, here's a recap of last week:

Sunday: Experimenting with ombré in the hot sun. I got a bit sunburnt but also figured out a cool new technique for creating a dip-dye effect. I'll share the results soon.

Monday: I spent the afternoon styling a simple tablescape. I was channeling the rustic, country farm table with summery red, blue and white hues.

Tuesday: I packaged up my first rolls of film that I shot with my new Minolta camera. I sent them off to Richard Photo Lab. I am anxiously awaiting the results. Fingers crossed for some good shots!

Wednesday: It was inventory time at Anthropologie so I had to wake up at 4 in the morning to help out. After work I stopped by a local coffee shop to caffeinate myself. I never drink coffee so on the occasion that I do, it REALLY works. Despite my lack of sleep, I got through most of the day with a lot of pep.

Thursday: Earlier in the week I got my peony prints back from Richard Photo Lab. I couldn't be happier with the quality. They look amazing. Now I just need to frame a few.

Friday: This is the face I get every night before we head out on our walk. It's hard to say no to that.

Saturday: Scout and I walked in the morning and chose to trek up this steep hill in the scorching heat. We were quite parched by the time we arrived home but the view from the top of the hill was very worth it.

So that was week twenty-four for me. What did your week look like?

I will try and post regularly this week even though I'm not sure what our internet connection will be like every night. But I will be snapping plenty of photos (digital and film) and as always I'll be sharing on Instagram.

My Week Through Instagram: Week Twenty-Three

Hi everyone! I'm a little late to start off this week. Yesterday was nonstop finishing up a couple of projects. But I'm getting back into blogging today by recapping last week. Last week was number twenty-three of 2012! Can you believe it? We are almost halfway through the year. At the beginning of this year I set a little goal for myself which was to post a picture (at least one) to Instagram each day. I haven't missed a day yet and I am so proud I've come this far. I think it will be so fun to look back at the entire year in December through my pictures. Are you working on a daily project this year? How is it coming? Have you set goals like this for yourself in the past and how did they turn out?

Sunday: While my brother is away on tour, all his stuff is getting stored here at home including his fabulous Mac computer. This computer is amazing (and it runs so much quicker than mine) but the thing I'm really jealous of is this gigantic screen. Oh my! It makes working in Photoshop so easy. At least I have it all to myself until he gets back.

Monday: I spent the day styling and shooting a little gardening scene and this is a snapshot of the work in progress.

Tuesday: It has been awhile but I finally sent out some snail mail. I packaged up a couple of sweet goodies to loved ones using my favorites: glassine bags, tags and twine.

Wednesday: This shot is from my daily walk with Scout. This is a small private orange grove along one of our routes. I just like the old wood sign. It says, "Please - No Bikes."

Thursday: The weather is getting warmer which means shorts are starting to make an appearance. I rediscovered my dragonfly bloomers and wore them to work paired with a grey blazer. I couldn't resist pairing them with my oxfords.

Friday: All the jacaranda trees are going crazy in our neighborhood right now. They have the most vibrant purple flowers. They might be super messy but when they drop all of their violet blooms it is so magical. Like a carpet of purple.

Saturday: I had an early shift at Anthropologie on Saturday and as I waited to go in, I noticed these neat door handles. Quite the whimsical detail. It pairs perfectly with the salvaged wood doors.

So that was a peek into my week twenty-three. What did yours look like?

My Week Through Instagram: Week Twenty-Two

Happy weekend friends! Are you having a nice one so far? I have to say mine has been quite lovely. I have read, I wrote a couple letters yesterday (something I haven't done in SO long), I ate a yummy meal with my family last night. I'll be picking up my camera today and taking photographs. All the things that make for a nice few days. What have you been up to?

Here is my Instagram recap of last week, which was week twenty-two of 2012.

Sunday: These are some filler flowers that we picked up from Trader Joe's. I like filler flowers by themselves so these got put on display in a mason jar. They were a little messy and had a very Dr. Seuss quality to them.

Monday: We also scored these peonies from Trader Joe's, the last bunch. We just finally had to throw them away but these flowers were so beautiful all week. I was seriously captivated by them and how they changed colors and transitioned from closed-up buds to magnificent blooms. I took a bunch of pictures to capture the different stages and I'll be sharing them this week.

Tuesday: I did a DIY project this weekend and used electrical tape for the first time. I really liked it! These orange and purple colors were unexpected and I might try them out in my packaging more often.

Wednesday: Home Depot was actually selling flowers in these vintage-looking crates. This one is a welcome addition to our front porch.

Thursday: I sat outside in my backyard two days this week. It was rather warm but better in the shade and it just felt good to get out and see some sun. I worked and sketched out new ideas for upcoming projects. This old chair of ours is my favorite piece of patio furniture. It was my grandmother's and I remember it from her house when I was little.

Friday: I made up some scrambled eggs in the morning and was surprised to see this batch all stamped. An unexpected detail.

Saturday: I devoted some time to writing letters, something that I've been 'meaning to do' for far too long. It felt good to sit at my desk and just write. The only writing I do normally is on the computer. I used this old typewriter paper that has this amazing texture and these neat red lines at the margins. Now if only I could get my typewriter working then I'd really be set.

So that was a peek into my week twenty-two. What did yours look like?
