Ampersand Pinboard DIY

Hey, it's Friday already! It definitely snuck up on me. How about yourself? After my brother's late night show yesterday, I am so ready for a few spare minutes of lounging.

I'm closing out Birthday Week with a DIY because craft projects are truly the best and honestly, they are my favorite thing to share with you guys. We all deserve a nice, inspiring handmade project to kick off our weekends don't you think? Today I'm sharing an ampersand pinboard that I put together yesterday. It's a quick project and once completed it's a nice addition to cluttered desktops that need a new place to pin little knick knacks and small keepsakes.

Messy piles tend to accumulate on my work surfaces and little inspirations can get hidden under things. Occasionally I like to organize and rediscover my special keepsakes. Pinning or taping them up to my walls is such a better location for them, where I can actually see and enjoy them. Sadly this organizing doesn't happen as frequently as it really should.

To make this pinboard you need: 1/2" foamcore, cork board, super glue, an x-acto knife, acrylic paint if you want to paint it, and a paint brush. First print out your favorite ampersand, sized as large as you want. I fit mine to an 8.5"x11" piece of paper. Cut out that ampersand from the printer paper and then trace it onto the foamcore. Then cut it out from the foamcore with your x-acto knife. Trace the ampersand again onto the cork and cut out. Super glue seals the two together instantly. Finally I painted some of the cork white to give it a clean, modern feel and painted the edges lime green to add a pop of color.

The color isn't the main focus but it peeks out at you on an angle and I really like that.

I pinned a few of my keepsake tags to it. I had the framed pinboard already but I like the combination of the two and the layers of inspirations I'll be able to affix to them. I think it is a nice addition to my workspace.

Thank you so much for sharing in Birthday Week with me. I have big things planned for year three and I couldn't think of a better place than this blog to share my upcoming projects and crafts.

Do you have anything crafty planned for this weekend?
